QP Mechanics manufactures dies, die holders, punches, punch holders, counter punches, plates, pressure pads, extractors, pins, etc., which compose the individual stations of metal sheet cold forming.

Each of these components plays a different role within the forming stations. For example, pressure pads are essential to prevent the metal sheet from deforming during extraction and creating irregular edges.

We manufacture these components to design, using suitable materials to ensure the best performance for the specific application.

Application

Transfer dies and spare parts for metal sheet stamping presses

In transfer dies, the workpiece is transferred from one station to the next using grippers mounted on two bars that move synchronously with the press. The workpiece is separated from the infeed strip at the first station when the blank is cut out. In subsequent stations, the part is transformed until the finished product is obtained, which is ejected from the die in the last step.

This technology offers more freedom compared to a progressive die in terms of product transformation and allows for better aesthetic finishes. On the other hand, it has lower productivity and higher scrap rates.

Progressive dies and spare parts for presses

In progressive dies, the workpiece remains attached to the strip during the various transformation steps. It is therefore the strip itself that advances, transferring the semi-finished part from one station to the next. At the last stop, a mechanism separates the completed product from the conveyor belt. Progressive dies allow for the production of multiple parts simultaneously within a single station, while keeping scrap to a minimum.

Multi-cavity dies and spare parts

When the size and deformation sequence of the material allows it, dies can be designed to produce multiple parts simultaneously. While progressive dies are primarily designed for this purpose, transfer dies are the result of careful analysis by the designer. This solution allows for material savings, a significant increase in productivity, and at the same time, maintains the typical advantages of transfer dies.
